1993 explorer eddie bauer
I have a 1993 ford explorer eddie bauer 4X4. It keeps overheating when I go off road. I installed an aluminum fluid cooler with a fan and it still spits out the fluid from the top when it overheats. Doesn't get hot in bumper to bumper traffic.

Thank you so much!! I don't have a transmission temp gauge. What I don't get is that my explorer only has 69k miles ( confirmed by DMV records) single owner. The fluid has been changed 5 times already.

Make sure it is not overfilled
Also
Make sure the breather line / vent tube is clear and breathing

What is the temp of the fluid in the pan?

I did check before the trip and it was not overfilled. I'm not sure on the temperature but it pukes it from the middle and stops after it cools down.

Your stock cooler is receiving heat from the engine since it's part of the radiator. You could have the transmission run on a separate cooler which isn't part of the radiator. Was this already done? I could see the cooler with a fan in the first photo. Does the auxiliary fan run continuously or with a thermostatic controller?
