Hello, I have a 1995 Ford Explorer Stock 4-door XLT which has the stock 235/75R15s. I plan to replace the wheels with a 17x8 and 10mm Offset. The Stock offset is 12mm so the 10mm should be very close to stock. Now for the tires. I want to go as big as I can without any rubbing or issues.

I keep hearing different answers like 30x9.50 is the biggest. Then I heard 31x 10.50. For the 30x9.50 the 245/70R17 works. For 31x10.50 the 255/70R17 works. Please advise....

Thanks
Alan

I have a stock 2000 Explorer XLT and I am running tires that are 32.1 inches overall and I only rub on a small part of my wheel well but it doesn't bother me nor is it enough to damage my tire or wheel well...(noticeably). As far as your offset you should be fine although I cant tell you from experience as my wheels have zero offset. But I run 32.1x11.2 and pretty much don't rub so I wouldn't be afraid to run those and if you want a little extra clearance in the front you can search the forum for instructions on a torsion bar lift which utilizes your factory suspension to raise the front ride height of your Explorer while only requiring basic hand tools and a jack.

I'd stay within these sizes and hopefully they will give you the desired result you are looking for:
235/85R17 = 32.7X9.3R17
255/75R17 = 32.1x10R17
275/70R17 = 32.2x10.8R17
285/70R17 = 32.7x11.2R17

Hope this helps:bounce:
