1996 v8 Explorer will not start

Either some animal or idot crawled under my Explorer and ate through the wiring harness that goes to the gas tank / fuel pump. Got another piece of harness from junk yard and soldered wires back together. Now fuel gauge works but truck will not start. Engine turns over just fine.

check for fuel pressure, listen to the fuel pump come on when you turn the key to start.

Check for a blown fuse. Do you see a check engine light on the dashboard when you turn the key to turn on the electrical system?
