It'll be nice...if I have anything to say about it. :p:

Wait...I promised I was going play nice. Okay here goes then:

"It will be a truck."

There, Russell, I said something positive. :D

G'day mate, found a couple of pic's you might like of a couple of rig's from down here (originally from up there so nothing probably that you haven't seen before) I just thought you may like a look.

Greg, thanks for the pics! Yall down under actually got right hand drive versions of these trucks, and those would be uber awesome to Own :D That first picture is of a 59 Custom Cab, as those were the only ones that got chrome grilles...which is what Sloopy happens to be as well

Cool, cool man. Damn you're going to have The Ride when Sloopy hit's the streets.

Thought I would post some automotive trivia for you guys :D

Did you know that....
"The first year a factory four wheel drive system was offered on a pickup was in 1959 on the F-series lines of trucks. Before that, two wheel drive vehicles were converted out of house by third party installers. So, next time you go to use that four wheel drive system in your Explorer, give a nod to the innovation that Ford put into it's vehicles, and the father of the factory four wheel drive system - The 1959 Ford F-100"

Well, It would appear that MrQ (Dan) will be coming up tonight to good ole OKC to help me with this thing...and if all goes well, We might even be cutting the frame in two and prepping the front Subframe. Woot Woot!

Why don't you just put the Mic down and let it record while y'all work.. that would make an interesting Podcast...

:p:

:p:

LOL, if we did that, you would be hearing a lot of me saying '...Uh, i think this will work...Well no I didn't measure it, but I eyeballed it and it's close....oh, I think i cut something wrong....'

:p:

If it don't fit, grab a beer and make it fit. That motto got the engine in my truck..

I don't think you ever mentioned it, or thought about it for that matter; but are you putting any flare into the truck or are you just brining it back to the good 'ole standard F100?

Flare is a good question. For all intensive purposes, the exterior will largly remain stock...But will the truck have Flair? It will have loads and loads once you open the hood, and see what is under the skin :D I do want to build or install a center console in the style of the new f150 and rapter variety, and will use bucket seats, may shave some dash things, and gotta figure out a way to mount the Mounty HVAC system. SO Pretty much all the work that I have to do will not be seen, LOL.

it will be a sleeper in all the right places! LOL

Frame is cut!!

Ok, so MrQ (Dan) decided to punish himself and drive up to OKC to see me and to help with the 59 project, so I of course accepted. Today, we started gutting the rest of the frame getting it ready to cut. We removed the driveshafts and the cats of the exhaust first.

Then the fuel tank and muffler came out and made its way to the scrap pile
184603_686618529241_44013058_36749043_904462_n.jpg

then we decided to take a break and see how much Russell could get for the Cats at scrap metal. Surprisingly, with some scrap and cats, I got 143 bucks scrap value!! Score! So off to harbor freight we went to buy more tools :D As of this point, with scrap value and parts ive sold off the mounty, the price is now $33.00!!

So we get back and start to remove all the fuel lines, brake lines, vacuum lines, and frame harness and all the shields and such. Here Dan is getting his butt handed to him disconnecting parking brake cables, LOL. Thanks Dan!

Since we were getting ready to cut the frame in half, I wanted to brace the frame rails from folding in on each other. Since I forgot to pic up some C channel, I just cut out of the rear cross-members and moved it up front and welded it in. I think it holds just fine for now :p:

The obligatory weld bead shot

Again, Dan is taking it upon himself to remove the axle. What a trooper

And there yea go! Rear axle and springs removed. So if you ever wanted to know what a second gen frame looked like naked, here it is!

And finally the moment you all have been waiting for! The frame is cut in half!!

Also thought I would throw up a couple of Vids of Dan working...a rare event indeed for his species, LOL

And there we are. So now I need to get the front half squared away and start measuring centerlines and such, and the next step is the start marking the 59 frame and getting it ready to cut and start meshing the two!! Russell is so happy and so sore right now, lol

And special thanks to forum member CSPY for sacrificing his hand to the automotive gods by severely cutting himself and almost going to the hospital! You're the greatest Craig, LOL. Anyway, hope y'all enjoy!

Hurry Dan! get out of there, leave quickly! if you stay too long tomorrow he'll have you working on his SOHC!:p:

And then you'll never get your impact wrench back!

Hey it is hard work being a supervisor :p: Takes great concentration to correctly hold a coffee cup in one hand and a clipboard under the other arm.:D
