I posted that wondering if someone else knew if the smaller kit had a long enough tube/collar/whatever piece. I didn't want to have to make two trips and didn't mind paying the $229 since it was getting refunded a few days later, so I got the larger kit Just In Case. At the time I vaguely recalled that "somebody's" kit didn't have the longer tube needed.

One thing about Advance Auto though, when I returned it they wanted my receipt and the credit card I used. Autozone is where i usually get loaner tools and they don't need either of those things, will just look it up in their system and issue the credit.

I happen to have just enough Cash. I'll put the receipt in my wallet so I don't end up "owning" it. :-)

I have dug up my old thread to see what and when I did this work to the blue '97 4.0 SOHC, sometimes known as "Flo". A few years back, my wife named it as we were standing between it and the blue '97 Mountaineer "Mo" the 5.0. Poor "Mo" is in the penalty box and has been, in an emergency, lightly pirated for parts. Like when the wife backed her white '97 SOHC, "GW" into the corner of the '74 F250 sitting in the way in the driveway. Fortunately, only the LH taillight assy got busted out. no body damage. Or the other emergency when some how she finished her trip to work with a locked-up wheel bearing. I had to strip the RH spindle assy off of "Mo" and with all of the tools, drive 37 miles up to where she works and set up shop in the parking lot. I learned from that, that the LCA may have a different size nut on it. IIRC, I had a 22mm combo wrench with me and needed a 21mm. I know it wasn't the other way around. I used a penny to make up the one mm difference when I did the final torque pull.
So back to where I was (as I sit inside the house enjoying the AC instead of riding the mower) I looked up my old UCA replacement thread to see when I did that and realized that it was pre-stroke. Maybe that is why I couldn't remember? or just a while back. I have either wore out the cheap upper or the 80#s or torque has slipped. I really don't think it has slipped because I remember tightening it way more than 80#s.The part probably has 50K on it now and if it is wore out that doesn't bother me too much. I can do it again. I have the instructions here at my disposal.
Anyhow, I see now that it has been 4 years and 50K miles. I feel like we got our money's worth out of it. SKP with a current 2022 price of $25.99. It was probably 25 % cheaper 4 years ago.
I hope to be able to check it out later this week after the new pump and tank are back in the '92 EB (Dora).
