1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition. My stereo's display doesn't work.

Ok so it's nothing too serious but just an annoyance that I can't seem to fix. The lights on the face plate of my stereo in my Explorer will not go on. The buttons on it light up but the screen won't. So for instance it won't show what time it is or what song is playing or what radio station is on. When I first bought the car if I hit a speed bump or something it would turn on but sadly, with time it stopped Any ideas of what might be wrong? Or possibly what wire is messing it up? Even a guess is better than nothing. Thank you so much for the help!
