My Mountaineer has a Manual Transfer case and when I put it into Neutral and shift out of 2H and try an shift into 4H it grinds and the Check Engine light comes on, but the code it throws out is not related to the transfer case at all. The code has to do with a lose connection to the Battery but I have no problem with that... As of now lol, When i turn the Truck off and put it back in 2H the Check Engine light goes away..... What do you all think this could be???

Did you put the manual t case in? What is the code exactly? Your truck shouldn't have a manual case. And if it does there are no electrical connections except for the 4hi/4lo lights if they are hooked up.

Yes it was originally AWD and the code is P1633 Keep Alive Memory (KAM)

Did you hook up the 4wd lights? If not there should not be any electrical connections involved. If you did then perhaps there is a short in the light circuit. If there are no lights involved then I would think that the code is unrelated.

No I did not hook those lights up, it's so weird idk what the deal is, the check engine light only comes on when in 4h or 4l only then..

This is my old Mounty he is talking about. I checked it tonite and cannot seem to find anything. The check engine light came on for me when I put it in four wheel low with it running. If I turned it off and and put it in four wheel low then started it there was no check engine light on. I put the transfer case in about a year ago and did not have this problem when I first put it in. There is nothing electrical hooked up to the transfer case. Any ideas what could be causing the check engine light on?

Is the shifter rubbing on any wires underneath?

I did not see anything that looked different from a year ago when I installed it but will recheck. Looks like you have the same set up and I assume yours is not doing this.
