20 x 9 Optional Wheels from Ford

Interesting... I just went on the Ford site and as soon as you choose 4x4 your largest wheel option is 17" wheels... They don't even offer the 18" wheels I have now. How lame?? Yet when you pick the AWD drivetrain, they come standard with the 20" wheels and not even an option for the smaller ones...

I guess that may be because most AWD buyers use their trucks for on-road snow and ice conditions only. I do recall seeing a few non-Premier AWD Mountaineers offered with 18 inch wheels, when I was looking for one.

As far as 4X4's go, I think the 20 inch, or even 18 inch wheels, would get pretty banged up at the first hint of a West Texas prairie dog hole or large river rock. Although the latter wheels do come with BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A's, which have some limited off-road ability.

Any more information on this? I just pulled the trigger on a '09 AWD Limited with the 20" aluminum wheels. They had to get it from another dealership, so it's going to be a few days before I get my hands on it. Has anyone tried putting larger tires on them? I have 'tires for life' so I might get creative if they let me.

Okay, so they ARE 20x8. Anyone know if it's possible to put 275/55R20 or 275/60R20's on 'em?

Does anyone have pictures of these wheels on a explorer, preferably black 2009 so I can get an idea of what mine looks like when I pick it up on Friday?

That's a much better price, but I can't believe they don't include the center caps..WTF
