2000 Mountaineer Monterey
Hey all. Well I'm returing again after buying a lemon 1998 Explorer XLT 5.0 that ended up having a bad transmission. Needless to say never going to deal with those people again.

I'm happy to report I've found a 2000 Mountaineer Monterey with a 5.0 in what I feel is good condition for the price. Any help as issues to expect arising. It's got about 108,500 on it and I love the V8 growl it has.

Known Issues:
It does have the typical black display on the radio and for some reason the front washer fluid only works when you push on the rear washer fluid button? Anyone hear of this?

The emergency brake does not work

Simple Questions:
The leather interior is pretty dirty as I bought it off of a couple that used it on their farm. What's the best product to cut through the dirt?

If I decide to do a new head unit install such as a pioneer etc, does that render the steering wheel controls useless for the volume etc.

I do plan on using the search, just haven't had much time lately with work and driving around in the new toy all the time haha. :D

Never heard of a Mercury Monterey. Do you mean a Moutaineer?

Yeah, pretty much the eddie bauer version of a mountaineer. They also made a premier edititon that year. Has all the toys (sunroof, on board computer, running boards, two tone paint, leather interior (non-heated: premier edition did though) dual power seats, etc...

As soon as I give her a bath and charge the battery to my camera I'll get some posted. This is a pretty busy weekend for me with work for BU's commencement so please be patient LOL
