2001 questions

Hello,
I've had 3 94 X's, & a B2. I will be looking at a 2001 XLS this week. It's 2WD 4.0 SOHC motor. 80K miles 1 owner.
I don't know much about these models.
Does this engine have a timing belt that needs replacement?
Being an explorer guy I assume it has the same issues such as power window motors & bushing wear, Is that right?
The auto trans, is it a 4 speed or 5 speed. The dealer claims it's a 5 speed.
How is the trans? I never had an explorer trans last me past 90K miles.
Any specific area's on 2001's that need to be closely looked at?

This will stay stock. Only addition will be warrior shackles for a little more rear end height as I will need to haul things in it.

The SOHC does not have a timing belt but suffers from timing chain issues. Search SOHC problem and you will be flooded with threads. The transmission is a smidge better than the first gen auto tranny but stilll not up to par.

If you want reliability go with a 2ng gen 5.0 Explorer or Mountaineer.
