Ok cranked up the 2002 V6 explorer and after a few minutes could see a little smoke rising under the hood. Oil is dripping from above onto the exhaust manifold right above the oil filter causing the smoke. This is only on the passenger side.
Whats common to leak on these? Valve cover? How hard a job is it on this V6 motor to change the gasket? Anything else it could be?

it may be a crack in the valve cover if its plastic or it could be the rear timing chain tensioner. I had both on my 04 xlt due to broken timing cassette

20 minutes if you have skills like me. you need to pull the intake to get at the valve cover. Took me an hour the first time I did it but by the fourth time I had it down pat.
