Engine starts and then immediately drops RPMS and barely idles for a couple of seconds and then dies. Any guidance or direction is appreciated.

Welcome to the site...I'd bet it's your Idle Air Control Valve. It acts like a choke does for a carbureted vehicle. It is mounted on the intake just behind the throttle plate.

Thanks, I was just reading an article on how another person cleaned the IAC. What do you think? Can I try cleaning it to get the beast running and then buy a new one? Unfortunately it is 35 miles away, sure wish it was in the driveway....

Cleaning may help if it is sticking closed, which is what your symptoms sound like. It can't hurt, and you may be able to put off changing the IAC for a while that way.

OK, This 6AM traveled to the SportTrac. Checked IAC, Cleaned it, no go - checked all fuses, relays, emerg cut off all OK, Got the special tool and removed the two ends of the fuel filter. Turn on engine no fuel pumping out. So, I guess the next step is to remove the 15-58 gals of gas, drop the tank and remove the fuel pump itself. Are any special tools needed to remove the filter from the tank? When I drop the tank I can't see right now where the fuel IN pipe is so what can I expect there? Any Help would be appreciated.

FIXED - RUNNING - Do you want to know the details? It was ugly. Now I know why FORD charges 1000. plus for a new fuel pump. Yep the fuel pump....at 51,725 miles. BTW O'Reiley told me the pump was special order! - NAPA had one delivered in one hour! - LIST $259. my price $159.00 and lots of labor and dirt. Thanks to Bryan and Jimmy, eldest and youngest boys of mine. Could not have done it with them,

I have a similar problem with 2005 sportTrac

I purchased a 2005 Sporttrac yesterday. Parked in carport. locked it

this morning, the only way I can get into the vehicle is with the key.
The Keypad nor the fobs don't work.

the THEFT lights up steady for awhile, then blinks like normal.

Any ideas?
