My Explorer brake pedal go's almost all the way down before braking is applied. The master cylinder is not leaking, neither is anything else. Pads are fine. What can it be?

Really? I also hear like a noise coming down from the brake pedal, like theres friction against a rubber boot or something.

could be the abs

I have really spongy brakes, and pedal goes almost to the floor. Someone told me it can be the master cylinder. Anyone with past similar problems?

Brake fluid could be passing through the cylinder if the piston seals are bad. If you have no leaks and your pads/shoes are good then it would be a safe bet that your cylinder is shot.

Yeah I think so to. I'll replace the master cylinder and let you guys know if that's the fix.

That sounds about right to me.
