Today on the way to work I drove on the highway with my 4x4 High on because we had tons of ice and slush here in Michigan. I was around 45mph, when I was in area's that looked "OK" I clicked back to 4x4 Auto.

After getting to work and shutting her down for a while, I restarted and now my O/D Off light it flashing non-stop.

Everything "seems" fine but I've not been in an area that would have my SUV over 25~35 mph yet. I do notice it shifts a little more but that might just be because I'm aware of the light flashing... You know what I mean? Like normally I just drive my SUV, but now that I'm aware of a possible issue, I'm like oh was that shift too hard?

I tested all my 4x4 modes in a parking lot, everything is working there.

Thoughts?

I don't even know what to do next. This is my only automobile, I need to get to work, I drive about 100 miles a day.

Need to get the codes, a flashing OD light lets you know that the computer has seen a problem with the transmission and set a trouble code. You may need to go to a shop that can retrieve it, not all scanners will get the transmission codes.

Which might be a problem I think. My ABS stopped working and I was told to go pull the "code", went to both Advance Auto and Auto Zone and neither of them could get there scanners to connect. They both said it was like my OBDII port wasn't working.

Could this be a real issue or do I need to go to an actual SHOP? I just hate to pay to have a code pulled.

We will check the code for free at my shop, I would think that someone who works on transmissions in your area would do that too, just call around and ask.

If the data link connector (OBDII) wont power up the scanner check the cigarette lighter fuse.

Cig lighter works fine, I power my cellphone off of it daily.

When I had a flashing O/D light I couldn't read the codes from my OBDII scanner.

I went to the Ford dealership and they pulled them for me for free (top blokes), I offered them a carton but they wouldn't accept it. It only took them minutes to get the code. But maybe thats what you'll have to try.

Good luck!
