2003 ford explorer
Need some help! First off its a 2003 ford explorer. Was running great then shut off at a stop sign. Initially thought maybe the fuel pump had gone. Had it towed home and it sat for 2 months. Hooked some jumper cables up the other night and she fired right up. But after 4 or 5 seconds shut down and wouldnt crank up again. Getting plenty of fuel at the fuel rail. And I am assuming it has fire due to the fact it cranked right up. Also, do not know if this is relevant or not, but after this the key would not come out of the ignition until after the battery had completely died again. Then after jumping it off once more same result. I do not have the key fob and am wondering if it has something to do with the security system on the vehicle. If you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated!

Have you considered the ignition switch? Cutting out while running, and being able to start up again a little later is a common symptom of a bad ignition switch.

I was not aware that could be the issue. I'm new to the explorer world but thanks for the input! I will try that and go from there!

Would the ignition switch cause it to still turn over though? But act as if it has no fire?
