2003 Ford Explorer V8 Help!!!

My Ford Explorer 2003 had been sputtering out of control. My Explorer came with a Lincoln engine. Now the check engine light keeps flashing. It never flashed before it just stayed on. I was told that if I put my car on a machine it wouldn't read right because of the different engine. I'm stuck I need help what do I do

You've got to pull codes first.

Flashing check engine should be a misfire. Which means you've had at least 1,000 misfires. Find out which cylinder and swap coils. See if the misfire moves.

You'll need something like Forscan or a scan tool that can read live data in order to see if the misfire moved. Or wait for another 1,000 misfires.
