I'm currently on the second set of tires since purchasing this vehicle used back in 2008. The first set of tires were 40k mile tires and I was only able to get 31k out of them. This current set are 50k mile Pirelli's and I'm guessing I'll get maybe 35k out of them.

What the hell is going on with the tire usage on this vehicle? Is it due to the auto 4wd possibly? Maybe the overall weight of the vehicle?

I think it's a waste buying expensive quality tires if they'll never reach their mileage rating.

Thoughts?

I have bought Michelin and Firestones and gotten 100,000 miles on both sets. 1 set was on my 2000 F250 diesel the other was my 2005 Yukon XL. Rotate them every 6,000 and drive like a normal person. I don't accelerate hard and rarely take RPM's above 3000. I always buy more high end tires and I always hit my mileage on them. Rotate and slow down a bit.
