Removal and Installation
Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04.
Remove the front fender splash shield. For additional information, refer to Fender Splash Shield in this section.
Remove the headlamp assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 417-01.
If removing the right front fender, remove the antenna mast and bolt, and position the antenna cable aside.
Remove the 2 grille opening panel bolts.
To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
Remove the 4 top fender bolts.
For Explorer/Explorer Sport Trac, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
For Mountaineer, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
Remove the 2 upper A-pillar inner fender bolts.
To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
Remove the 2 lower A-pillar inner fender bolts.
For Explorer/Explorer Sport Trac, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
For Mountaineer, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
Remove the fender.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
