Thanks for posting that!
I am very interested in reading the brochure just was waiting for it to be available.

You're welcome!:D

I stumbled over it when I checked out the website although I wasn't even looking for it in particular.

Hmpf, they gave the 2011 4wds front tow hooks - we never got tow hooks from the factory! It'll probably need them I suppose.

Thanks for the link anyway.

Good eye. I never noticed that before. I like the name front recovery hooks. I guess it fits the car. I wish my Ex had factory tow hooks.

I'm even more underwhelmed with the '11 after thrumbing through that cyber brochure. :(

Na, it'll grow on you, trust me.:D

Funny, the negative comments could be a copy of the posts from the various Jeep-Forums when the WK2 launched. Strange - as of today, the negative comments disappeared and they can hardly wait for their "soccer-mum-SUV"...;)

...Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm just trying to be more polite because the initial rage has worn down - I'll probably never buy a new Explorer from now on. I actually was thinking that to myself today - if I had to buy a 2011 anything, only the 4Runner, Liberty and V8 Colorado/Canyon would be worth looking at (I don't want a fullsize) - that's a pretty depressing thought if you ask me.
I still get angry when I see 2011 Exs, and I still poke fun of the WK2 then I see it - silly Jeep with IRS, having solids was what made Jeeps interesting. Now it's just some vehicle with air suspension that will need a lot of repairs (if history tells us anything), I'd get a Benz if I wanted that.

Unlikely. It's been in the public eye for a while now and I just don't like the look of it. The brochure only reinforced it for me. I scored my first Explorer in Spring of '93, factory ordered. While A fan of 1st and 2nd gens mostly, I still liked the 3rd and 4th a lot as well (and would buy them).

The 5th gen is an Explorer in name alone. I've said my part in other threads so I won't rehash, but the '11 could be an Edge Extended or a Taurus XX. It's no Explorer.

RIP Ford Explorer, 1991-2010.

Thats why my next choice is a............FJ Cruiser! Simple yet awesome! Wranglers (JK's) kind of suck. Crappy engine and too much electronics for an off roader. I dont think I'll probably buy american again unless they bring back the bronco.

I agree about that last sentence, but I have a hard time accepting it. FJ's are pretty cool and very capable, but they're too curvy and odd looking for me.
I also like having a semi-unique offroader, and I feel like all FJs look a lot alike.

The part I don't get is that Ford says the Explorer is supposed to compete with the Traverse, Highlander and/or Honda Pilot. So... what vehicle exactly (of Chevy or Ford for that matter!) is supposed to compete with 4Runner?
Ford could definitely profit off of making a contender against FJ and Wrangler too.

Moderator time here folks. This is going into all threads on the '11 Explorer.

I know there are those of you out there that do not like the new Explorer. I'm fine with that and you are entitled to your opinion. HOWEVER I am tired of people bashing the '11 without ever driving one, sitting in one, or in some cases seeing one. If you have experience with one and don't like a feature or how it drives or how it failed you somehow, please post up about it. I've already found stuff I don't like and posted up about it, and I'm sure that there are other features/items that I will find that I don't like either.

If you don't like the fact that Ford called this an Explorer and you feel that the name is tarnished, don't whine here, it won't do any good. You'll just piss people off. Sent a note to Ford and complain to them. If enough people don't like the re-design and tell Ford, maybe they will take that into consideration.

If anyone persists in continued bashing or sniping (as in any other forum on the site), you will become eligible for a vacation from the site of an undetermined length.

Please do not respond to this post saying F-You or Thank You...That's not why it's here. Just read it and continue on.

Thank You.

On Edit..a healthy debate is always welcome on here. Please do not take it as different opinions are not allowed. It's the bashing that needs to stop..
