2014 XLT Explorer buying help

I have a 2005 XLT and the rear Timing chain went south. I'm looking at a 2014 XLT with 96k on it. Carfax says 1 owner and no accidents $15k. It has a
3.5L V-6. I was wonder if these motors are prone to timing chain problems like the 2005 was and if there are any major issues with this year and model

Welcome to the 5th gen side of the Forum.
FYI, the 5th gen Explorer has an internal water pump which could cause issues if the leak. I believe more water pumps have failed than timing chains. Most members that have replaced the pump have proactively changed the chain as well. Water pump failure leads to dead engine
