2017 Ford Explorer Xlt
Hi everyone I am John.

I have purchased a 2017 Explorer Xlt that was used as a security car. One of the issues the car has is the key only turns the car if it is in the center console slot if not, it doesn't start the car, the remote key doesn't lock or unlock and I did replace the batteries of the remote and the car has a new battery as well. I am not a mechanic lol but after I did some research it might have to be related to the tpms module and I have no tpms readings too ( message on the dash says tpms module fault) does anyone had same issue ? thank you in advance

Hi Peter, thank you

Yes, both keys do not work. if I need to start the car I have to put one of them in the slot inside the center console.

I don't know if the no start is related to the TPMS issue. I believe the TPMS module is to the rear of the console. Does the TPMS screen just show zeros or nothing, assuming you do get the diagram on the display?

yes, it shows just zeros on all tires and I have a warning " tpms module fault" every time I start the car. I will try to check if the tpms module is working
