2017 ordering

You can negotiate the price on an order just the same as one that is on the lot. However, there may be a little more incentive to sell the one on the lot. Right now we have the Employee Pricing available here plus $750 credit in dealer delivery allowance. I didn't see the Employee Pricing on the U.S. site. On the 2016 Platinum I built the "Pricing" discount came to $5583. As usual, Ford Canada doesn't have the 2017 info available yet. There are several threads about buying/leasing info that can be found using the Forum's "Search" function. Good luck.

Ordered my 2017 Platinum on April 4. Today I received my VIN and build date: 7/27/16. No idea how long delivery will take to central Wisconsin, but I'm hoping to have it in early August!

Mine is being built last week in July with arrival at the dealer the 1st or 2nd week in August. However, due to my travel I will not get until end of September - guess I save six weeks of lease payments!

Dealer told me today that my Platinum in smoked quartz will also be built on July 25th.

Actually I made a phone call to a friend that is the new vehicle launch leader at Ford Louisville plant..... He got me the build date when the dealer didn't have it..... The arrival date is an estimate..... Once it leaves the plant ford really has no control its up to the shipper..... Rail and truck..... I live 376 miles from the Chicago plant. Vehicle will be shipped by rail to Shelbyville Ky where it will sit for 1 to 5 days before it will be put on a truck vehicle transport for the final 50 mile trip to my dealer..... I know how the rail head in Shelbyville works..... I have had two other ford vehicles that I ordered go through there...... The vehicle will sit in the Shelbyville lot till they get a full truck headed to my dealer

I am new here, and just wanted to add my experience to the order timeline. I have had a 2013 Escape Titanium for 3.5 years waiting on Sync 3 before upgrading to Explorer.

Early the week of May 16 I discussed the build that I wanted on a 2017 Explorer Platinum with my dealer. I was interested in black exterior on black interior, with rear buckets and console. Apparently he was so convinced that he could sell it to me that he used one of his dealer allocations and ordered it as I specified. I talked to him near the end of the week and he told me it was ordered if I was interested. I gave him the down payment May 21.

Early on, I received a build date of June 20 from the dealer. I had a VIN within the first week. It was later revised to the 25th, which is right around the day that my sticker became available through the sources you all have mentioned here before. Because of the dates on the sticker, and when it became available, I was convinced I had another week or so before they built it. It was built on July 2nd, with an ETA given to me by the dealer of between July 4 and July 11.

I picked it up today July 7. Still working on understanding all the tech, but I am very happy with it.

Seemed fairly sure. Maybe it depends how far away you live from the factory - I would think that affects delivery time.

Delivery dates and build dates are not something we can correlate.
My Super Duty was built on January 8 in Louisville, and I brought it home (Buffalo) on Jan 12.
My wife's Denali spent almost two months between build and delivery.

I would guess two weeks may be a good rule of thumb.
Be me.. My Explorer is being delivered to our Florida vacation home almost 1,400 miles away and I have to buy plane tickets and physically be there to license it and take delivery.
I would LOVE a firm date to plan around. That's not going to happen.

FordService will be more than happy to check the status of your order. All they require is the VIN or the order number and dealer code.

I was told my build date would be week of 7/25. Couldn't wait - cancelled order and picked up my new Platinum yesterday - $400 under invoice + $750 Ford rebate.
