2018 Explorer

One thing I just noticed in the picture of the back of the Ex in the 1st post link is that there now appears to be a sort of indentation at the bottom of the tow cover to grab a hold of.

There are 9 pictures in the gallery of the 2018's. Pics 1, 2, 5, 6 & 7 clearly show Michelin's on the Platinum trim. Note the 2018 pics are below the 2017 exterior and interior photos.

I think you may be correct on the change to OEM tires.....I have asked a source at CAP to confirm.

Anybody know how we can get the part number for the new rear bumper protector?

LOL!.......I'm already making inquiries at CAP to do exactly that.

I just hope that 2018 rear clip is the same as 2017 so the 2018 bumper protector will fit.

If it's narrow or wider we are screwed.

I feel like Michelin's last longer and have a better ride quality to them. At least the XLTs.

Glad to see the refresh has full LED headlamps for low and HIGH.

I'm a little confused as to which is the low beam. Looks like in the pictures, the low beam became where the high beam used to be and the high beam is now where the current low beams are.

I think that what you are seeing may be the DRL. The Highlanders I had used the high beams at a reduce output for the DRL.

Isn't Cinnamon Glaze the name of an Adult Film star?

I think it's a star at the local Tim Hortons.:)

Peter

You're right I always get the Apple Fritter and a Cinnamon Glaze!

"Insert lmao emoji here"

Apparently the forum does not support iPhone emojis. :(

Why....? Because life happens. A kid in the car, you spill your coffee, you go to put on your sunglasses... you name it and it's good tech to have.

16s and 17s should have come with the Safe and Smart package. Even Hyundais of the same year have that kind of tech.

The refresh is so minor that I don't think anyone that isn't a late model Explorer owner will notice. Not a fan of the exhaust tips. Wheels are OK but no improvement from 16/17.

I just talked to a Jeep Grand Cherokee owner today who's got the autonomous braking and he doesn't like it. The brake applies at times when the camera totally misread what's going on. he said when it does this you wouldn't have applied your brakes at all and it's a bad surprise. Ford may be holding off until the technology improves. I read a few articles today that said the same thing. Another feature that's not ready for prime time is the autostart/stop system on some vehicles and the auto park brake systems as well.

Haven't heard of such issues with other makes and models.
Not sure what's there to misread, as the camera should be working in conjunction with the front sonar sensors; to determine distance.

My collision warning goes off all the time. I hardly ever push the brakes when it does. If it was braking for me every time it went off I'd probably be disabling the system all together.

Our Subaru isn't overly sensitive in APPLYING the brakes prematurely but will certainly warn BEFORE .. like our EX's except better if god forbid I am not paying attention the Subaru will do all it can to stop for me in speeds below 45 or so .. otherwise slowing to reduce the amount of impact.

I tend to agree with Benk016 in that if the autonomous braking works like the collision warning system, you would get auto braking when you as the driver probably wouldn't be braking at all or simply just letting off the gas. I believe the most often scenario is when a vehicle ahead is planning on turning and you see no reason for it not to have completed the turn prior to you getting close to it. The system, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be set up to recognize that and will anticipate a possible collision/braking situation. That type of situation is the only time mine has ever gone off.
