I guess this is more aimed towards Ray or Gerald,
I am planning on finishing the lift this weekend, I already did the add-a-leaf/shackle and the twist. The 2" body lift is next. I have a 97 EB without the running board. I just have the lower trim piece. I am wanting to know if 285 will fit with minor trimming and how much will it screw up my gears. I looked and I have the open 4:10s. I have a 30 mile commute to work every day so take that into mind. I want to keep some sort of decent gas mileage. If it is too much for right now then I am just going to settle for the 265s. My final lift is going to be around 4-4.5". Any help would be greatly appreciated from anyone.

Its not really a question of 265 or 285 without giving the aspect ratio and rim diameter which would give you the diameter of the tire.

I have a 2000 and the add-a-leaf/shackle/torsion twist, and am running 31x10.5x15's which are roughly equivalent to 265/75/15 and they rubbed on the back edge of the front bumper and on the front of the side/under-body trim.

The 4.10 Diff should be fine for any tires you can fit under a 4" lift. Also, in theory you will improve your gas mileage by going with larger diameter tires, however you will decrease your torque out, and therefore your acceleration.

Be willing to trim and you'll have no problems. The SOHC has plenty of reserve power for 285 (33"). Gas mileage was unchanged.

Click on "Gerald's Truck" in my signature. I am writing about most of my mods in my registry. There is a section about my tires.
