So, A friend of mine offered me a set of his rims/tires (31x10.5) he used to have on his jeep for quite a good price with the rims included. I've been searching the site and I couldn't find any pictures (even in the "show your lifted 2nd gen" thread) of this tire setup.

Does anyone have pics of a 2nd gen with 31x10.5 tires? My truck has no lift (currently) and by the looks of the max tire size thread these will fit my explorer.

thanks

Absolutely! I have only ran 31/10.50's since I purchased my X. They run fine with no trimming, but I removed all my plastic trim and bumpers anyway. Of course a lift would be nice...

Not all Explorers will clear them factory. They are all set differently. A slight TT adjustment should be all thats needed to clear them. Of course, if the rear is sagging (alomost certainly is) its going to look goffy it you raise the front, and don't put on extended shackles on the rear.

also, are they stock Jeep rims?
the hub bore on the rims may not be big enough to fit the Explorer.

I know I have some Jeep rims that the hub bore was too small to fit on my Bronco2

Here's a picture of my 96 Explorer with 31's no lift what so ever. Most stock 2nd gens will clear 31's without any lift no rubbing or anything.

completely stock (I think...)

Even with my tt I can still get rubbing while a full lock but I think part of that is my camber is off pretty bad. But my old one was fine with 31's and no lift for a few weeks before I lifted it.

I think on the street I probably could have gotten by without the TT. But any kind of off road and I'd rub all the time. Off road I still rub if I really stuff a tire.
