1997 Explorer Eddie Bauer
Hi. New to the forum. I have a 97 Eddie Bauer with the 4.0 SOHC w/ 187xxx miles. Has the typical timing chain issues. I recently bought a 2001 Sport with the same motor. I want to put the 01 motor in the 97. Will it work or what will I have to do to make it work ? Thanks.

Swapping manifolds to make sure all the sensors are in the right place makes it easier. Use the manifold from your current engine. Not sure about any other sensors offhand, but if you do a search for "2nd gen engine swap" in the Google search box near the top of each page you should find some good information.

Thanks. I know fuel rails are different and the camshaft sensors look different but when you look parts up year for year they come up same part number. Is there a way to do this without unhooking all of the a/c lines ?
