Finally a thread talking about real power, where are you guys finding headers for the 3v 4.6? I have an 06EB and i cant seem to find a set anywhere. Also who makes a aftermarket TB for the X? i see that the stang and the x have a different type, would it be feesible to swap a s197 intake manifold and TB on the x?

For your Performance/TB needs look to www.ZABteck.com

As for the Headers & Manifold....they are NOT made as of yet. Granted the 3v mustnag and the X have the same engine....sort of. The blocks are different and the manifold is diffrerent along with a ton of other stuff! So the 05+ Mustang Headers will not work.

There are some parts that will work though...very limited. Check into my CARDOMAIN site for more pics on what I have done to my Adrenalin.

2008 Adrenalin V8 .................(300hp/300tq)
Mods: 22" "Sport" rims | %20 Tint | ROUSH exhaust Tip | Custom emblems | Steeda Bed-hook Plates | 1.5" Drop Springs
Perf: CF "Nocturnal" Perf Intake | Flowmaster 50SUV Muffler | Motoblu 4pc Pulley set | Ported Throttle-Body
Coming soon: SCT Xcal3 (Custom Tune) | Addco Rear Sway Bar | Custom Grind Cams

Thanks for your info, you have a nice looking truck.

Did you order the motoblu pulley kit for the mustang? or do they make a specific app. for the EX? ive searched briefly but cant seem to find a explorer specific application.

Also where did you get your drop springs from?

So when you throwing on the blower to close the Adrenaline chapter? Good job and lean truck, but missing the Adrenaline heart ;)

Springs were bought from Calhoun perf.
The Motoblu pulley's were purchased for the 3v mustang that I had but switched them over to the STA when I traded it.
There is not a supercharger application at the moment....stay tuned, there will be!

There is, you just have to make it work.

That's what I meant!...But to my understanding teh only people to get close to doing that is Blow By Racing. But they have seemed to give up, for the time being, to focus more on teh mustangs again.

Whipple, Kenne Bell, Vortech, Procharger, Saleen, etc all offer a supercharger for a 3V 4.6. I know you know that, but as you stated, nothing is a complete bolt-on kit. But they will bolt-on and you will have to make some modifications. How extensive? I don't know. It shouldn't really be that difficult in my eye's because that's the kind of thing I like to do. But to some, if it's not a direct bolt-on with NO fab work, then they won't even bother to do it.

I would fab up the new 4 lope Eaton TVS 1900 Tork Tech made for the three valves. Shouldn't be a huge task. Do you know if your pullys are in the same positions as the Mustangs?

Just talked to Justin at VMP Tuning....he stated that eh best fit would be the TVS (ROUSH P51) setup. It has not been done but will bolt up with minor modification.

Will require forged internals though. Seeing how the ROUSH P51 is laying down 500hp, the 4.6L 3v in our trucks would explode I do believe. Or at least not be very reliable....debatable I know.

PS...Ordered my SCT Tuner when I was on the phone with Justin! YAY!

Roush kit uses the 2.3 TVS. If your goals are 500whp or lower that can be attained with the 1900 rotors. Tork Techs test 3v Mustang did right about 500whp at a not so high boost level. Call Charles http://shop.torktech.com/contact-us.aspx

Its always good to have a bigger blower in case you ever want more. But you really have to consider your goals and if you think you will ever want more. If you are dead set on 500 or below I would go 1900.

But either way. TVS all the way.

You can also lower the boost:). Just because it says you will get 500+ doesn't mean you have a go that high. Like awdrocks says, just figure out what you want and go from there. 4.6 3V's are known to handle 450HP on a daily basis. It's going above that is when you should start worrying. Here is a video if an 08' Mountaineer with a Saleen supercharger built by Brenspeed. It's running mid-13's. Contact them if you have any questions.

As stated, you do not have a direct bolt-on supercharger. You will need to purchase a kit of your choice(preferably intercooled), run the proper boost for reliability and get it TUNED by someone who knows what they are doing!!! Is it more complicated than that? Yes. Can it be done? Yes. Read my quote, "Speed cost money, how fast do you want to go?" This isn't about what's available specifically, it's about how much money you are willing to spend.

ok, so going back to NA now...
I'm sure the 4.6L cams in the X are different than the mustang, anyone know the specs on it?

Anyone tried aftermarket cams in thier 4.6L V8 for an X, sport-trac or mountaineer?

What about heads?

talked to my local dyno shop yesterday...they have been doing mustang /cobra builds for years!

They said that the next step for me would be to have the Cats in the y-pipe eliminated (15hp gain) = $175

Said that the Exhaust ports could be ported to match better and the heads in general could use a polish/cleanup (25hp gain) = $1000

Custom grind cams from Comp (after pulling the stock ones send them to Comp cams and have them do a custom grind) (15-25hp gain) $900

Install for the heads/cams would be around a grand ($1000)

So in all for the above:
$3250ish
60+hp
or more to the wheels with a good tune

If I were you I would opt against having a local shop do your head porting work unless they are VERY reputable in the Mustang community and will be CNC ported. You will gain more hp out of a job done by a place that builds seriously big power vehicles. Check out Fox Lake Racing. Ask for Ron. They have done really good work there in the past. Sometimes it is best to go local joe schmo shops with certain things but I firmly believe that head porting should be done by the places that have done it thousands of times over again. There is much more to head porting than just hogging as much metal as possible off. It is a science that requires the flow testing and research involved to produce a great quality end result.

That's right Robert.

Ron at Fox Lake did my heads and I couldn't be happier.
