- 1996 Ford Explorer Sport
So I have two explorers.
A 1995 Ford Explorer XL 4L OHV Auto 4WD
T-case Tag Reads G1152 4405-07 326525 F57A-CA
And A 1996 Ford Explorer Sport 4L OHV Manual 4wd
T-case Tag Reads A3051 4405-07 167624 F57A-C
I Currently Drive the 1996 Sport as my daily and the 1995 is backup rig/Parts rig.
The 1996 Is stuck in 4 High and No matter what I do I cannot get it into 2wd. I've tried removing the shift motor and Turning it manually but it wont budge. No matter what the front driveshaft keeps turning. I've already checked the front axle disconnect and its operating normally.also the output shaft bearing going to both the front and the rear driveshafts are really loose. either way i just want to change the transfer case instead of fixing it
Anyway
The T-case in the 1995 was replaced with a remanufactured T-case 2 years ago and works flawlessly. haven't had any issues with it (except I can't get it into 4Low but I don't really care about that).
What I want to do is Take the T-case out of the 1995 and put it in the 1996. The only difference between the two is that the 1995 is an automatic and the 1996 is a manual. I don't think it matters but I'm not sure.
The fact that one tag says F57A-C and the other says F57A-CA is slightly concerning but My buddy thinks that just designates it as coming off of an automatic transmission.
any and all insights into this is greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
