4R55E shift issue

Hey guys, I need help trouble shooting a 4R55E. I bought a 95 explorer that when put in park doesn't want to shift out of first. when put manually into second it will shift, then in drive it will shift normally through all gears. If stopped and put back in park I have to repeat process. I have changed the valve body gaskets and installed a new EPC shift solenoid, but did not help. could it be a computer issue?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to this forum! When you place the shifter into park, could you easily move the shifter out of park when you press the brake pedal?

Yes it easily comes out of park. If i take it out of park and go directly to 1st then to drive it shifts through all gears. If I go directly to drive without going to 1st first it dose not want to shift out of 1st ?

Look through this thread

Then check yours to see if those bolts are in place and tight.

If they are loose, could be that you are having to shift passed D to get it into D.

You may also want to check the speed sensor.
