Hi all,
i'm new here but been looking around for some time now, very interesting and infomative forum!
First, my trans problem all started this summer when my 125k 2001 5.4 would completely neutral out when shifting to 3rd. Reverse, first and second gear have always been working correctly.
On disassembly, the direct drum(as expected) was totaly toasted. Everything else in the trans looked ok. On rebuild, a new direct drum was ordered, all clutchs and band, seals where changed.
Result:
Now,the problematic part.
It just wont hold 3rd. As soon as it shifts to 3rd, theres a major noise/big resistance in the trans,it slows the trunk down as if i was applying brakes while on the gas. When it sense that resistance it downshifts to second.
Looks like something is "interfering" when the direct drum takes action..
Apart from that, everything else is fine , no clunks, no nothing. Shifts from first to second ok in drive and in manual also. Reverse is fine.
I'm more than willing to take it apart again, just looking for some insight on where to look.
Thanks guys for any advices!
Dave
