4x4 hi and low blinking 3 times

Hello to you all,
My 2002 explorer gave me a code of hi-low 4x4(blinking on-off 3 times)
Does anybody know what this could be,before I bring it to ford delaer?
Could it be 4x4 modulator behind the glove box?
Need to get that fix before winter as last year we had 10 feet snow banks here in OTTAWA

Did you have any luck finding a solution to this problem? My 4x4 just went out a couple weeks ago and I am also getting the 4x4 hi/low blinking 3 times on start up and then every 5 minutes. I've heard of the 4x4 module behind the glove box and I believe someone at the parts store thought it may be a transfer case. Both run around $150-$200 for parts so I thought I would try to research some on the net. Can you help?

My 2003 just started experiencing this. 4x4 High and 4x4 Low buttons aren't doing anything. Truck is in RWD, not in any 4x4 mode. Although the 4x4 Low button indicator light is on. On the dash, the 4x4 High and 4x4 Low lights each flash 3 times every 5 minutes or so. Any ideas?
