While changing oil on our 03 Explorer Sport with the 5R55E
transmission...I noticed a bit of a leak from the vicinity of
where the transmission fill tube enters the transmission.
Looked thru the service manual and I was able to find that
you can remove the upper portion of the fill tube by removing
the bracket that attaches to the exhaust manifold. Didn't
find any mention of how to remove the lower portion. I'm
assuming its a push fit with an O-ring seal. Is anyone familiar
with this and can they tell me if the O ring or seal is available.
I also assume that this can be done without removing transmission.

Thanks for any info,
George

Thanks for the info Brooklyn. I'll try the local Ford dealer and see if he can
get me the repair kit.

Just wondering...I'm native to the Park Slope area of Brooklyn (vicinity of
Prospect Park West and 8th St) back in the 50s/60s. What part of Brooklyn you call home?

George.

Had the same problem. Oil pouring out when filling the tranny on my '00 explorer. Removed the pass side tire and moved the rubber flap and there is a dime sized hole. Just purchased a new ford tub for $29 CAD. Also have to fix leak where the transmission lines pass under the rad, where they clip onto the rad to keep them form moving it looks like water gathers there and rusts them away.

Resurecting an old thread but I am having the same issue. Did you get the tube and did it fix the problem? I tried using JB Weld and only worked for a week.
