2000 Explorer Sport 2WD with the 5R55E transmission.... Noticed some minor dripping from the rear seal while replacing the upper control arms. How would I go about removing the rear seal without damaging anything else or causing MORE problems???
With 190K on it, I'll also replace the U-joints while the driveshaft is out!!
Thanks in advance!! :)

It should be very simple, mark and pull the shaft, R&R the seal, replace shaft, and check the fluid. Should be good to go.

Thanks for the quick reply. How difficult is it to remove the rear seal and are any special tools needed to remove it???

Trailbum, it is very easy, and just a seal puller to remove it, and seal driver or improvise with a scrap of PVC pipe. Later tonoight when I get back to the shop, I will pull one of those seals out of the package, so I can be a little more specific about the installation tool. Hang tight.
