6 1/2 inch speakers

My friend has some 6 1/2 speakers he wants to give me to replace the original ones in my car, which i belive are 6 by 8s... is there anyway to fit them inside the door panel?

unless there are adaptors made now, maybe on ebay or something. Most peeps make em out of plywood or MDF , you just cut out the factory speaker size then make the ring to fit the 6.5 in there - watch your depth too.

i made my adapters out of 1/2 inch mdf and laminated it white. my 5 1/4 speakers are pretty beefy so i had to take the flexible cover off of the magnet to get it to clear in there...even now its super close. id suggest using 3/4 inch material to make your adapters.
