Just a general Question to those members that have done the SAS on a 1st. generation. Did this swap have any affect on the 60 to 70 MHP shakes? If so what ?

Haven't done this swap, but was curious if it had any affect. My 92 has had these shakes since day one both with stock suspension and tires and after 5" lift, 33" tires, and 265,000 miles.

I just got rid of almost all the 70mph shakes with new, well balanced tires. Probably makes a difference getting your tires re-balanced every few thousand miles or so.

I had vibrations once, but it was b/c the 4wd wasn't fully disengaged

had shakes after new tires and were supposedly balance ( I watched them do it). The truck had shakes at 60mph. Strauss auto store tech said that the mom pop shops don't spin the wheel fast enough for high speed balancing.Strauss Auto did it and all was smooth at any speed.

you dont have mud caked on the inside of your tires do you?

come on Schmidlkolfer He said it has done it for 255,000 miles ..OH My 1994 did the shakes at 79 so I learned to keep it a 65 no problems .. wish I knew why...

i guess i skipped that part. and heck maybe its a whole lot of mud. kidding...

ive very possible to have vibrations at high speeds with a sas, mine shakes like a junkie in rehab but it dosent matter since its trail only.

Alot of things like driveshaft balancing, gear setup, tire selection and balancing and suspension design can all caus shaking. If you do things right you shouldnt have any problems.

I agree !! I think my front end was loose causing the Shakes.. really the SAS should not cause a vibration Unless there was a problem with the drive shaft.. Oh welll sometimes not easy to trace without seeing the Truck.. The driveshaft being too short or too long can cause it also... Schmidlkofer you could be right about all that Mud also...LOL
