I don't think it matters for the mini spool, you only need the c-clip eliminator for a full spool.

Why don't you just weld it up?

its my DD and i cant risk blowin it up. the mini spool is only 80 bucks from jegs.

If its your DD I dont think a mini spool is a good idea. I have never had one, so I can't say from experience. A spool basically connects your axles together and both rear wheels turn at the same speed. When you turn a corner, the outer wheel turns faster then the inner, so your tires may chirp or you will fishtail much easier. Just a thought, I'm sure someone else will chime in with more experience with one.

mud bug 94 i got a 8.8 carrier with weld gears you can have for shipping a buddy gave it to me and now its just taking up space in my shed.

its out of a second gen not sure if that makes a difference

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT do the mini spool in the 8.8 with anything over 30's. I went thru 2 of them before I welded it up. First one almost went with only road minles. 2nd one left loose after only 4 months and 1 off road trip. They are not tight enough to stop the play in the side gears. Once it get so loose the cross pin will snap and your screwed.

First on was purchased with my lift and tires. When I called to get my money back they were not going to because I had 34's. They checked the invoice and had too because they sold it to me as a package.

2nd on was a different brand and the people that did the gears and mini said it was better and stronger. When I took it back to them, they said I had to be railing on it for it to be like that.. I don't wheel that way and they knew that.

Almost 2 years later, about 10 wheeling trips and about 7000 miles no problems with the welded 8.8.

why don't you get an automatic locker, like the aussie locker or lockrite? It would be a little more forgiving on the road, and still lock up when torque is applied when you're off road. Many menbers on this site run them and all with good results. they are around $200+

zhanx what gears are in it, I may be interested, mY 96 is more of a play truck but does see street action, Ive used a full locker as well as drove 4 wheelers on the street. does it still have the disks?

FireZapper, im only gunna run 32's, but when i go with 1 ton, im goin with 35's.:)

as far as lockes go...im cheap, so they are out for now.......but my dana 60 will have an electric locker and a lockrite in the 10.25.

mud its the carrier only stock one.

dont tell me i know... tell conig

my bad..

edit short of going out to the shed i think it still has the 3.73 ring gear on it. i can take it off tho.
