8.8 Rear end noise?

I wanted to want the zf6 as my stepson found a 7.3 one in the yard and brought it home…. Then I did the research and was like oh dang
They sold it for $1500 next day

I should have as my “rebuilt” zf5 grinds going into 3rd

18 gears and a 2 speed rear end now we are talking!
The ZF6 is an impressive unit. 30,000 lbs GCVWR. The TR4050 would be my choice for a tight transmission tunnel.

Alright, new to me transfer case installed! The fluid from my old one was dark red, and metallic... And it does have a clank when the input or output shaft is turned by hand. New unit is working, both 2WD &4 H&L. The noise has gone away as far as I can tell. Unfortunately when I was under my X, I discovered a few bad things. The driver side spring eye is broken, and the frame has a rust jacking from the overlap above the front leaf spring mount. The web of the frame is the main concern since it's disintegrating. Otherwise the vehicle doesn't have any major concerns not bad for the milage.

Pics?

Can you post a picture of the rust area?

Here are some pictures. The bad one is the passenger side.

Clean it up and treat it with either a good paint and/or fluid film it
