Hello all,
This is my first post here, I didn't realize there was this huge of an Explorer community. This is great. I hope someone here can help me. I've had my 1992 Ford Explorer Sport with 5 speed Manual tranny since about Oct of 1996. Its the best vehicle I've owned and I never want to get rid of it.
So far im tapping 143,000 miles on it and the transmission is really doing strange things. So far I have a new clutch and a new master cylinder in it both have around 5000 miles put on them since they've been installed. But the tranny has been hard to shift into first gear from a stop. Say im sitting at a light I pop it into neutral and let the clutch out and I go to put it back into first, I have a very hard to doing so. So I have to slide it all the way over to 5th and back, sometimes that will release what ever is preventing it from going into first. But not always, I end up forcing it and that works. I know it shouldn't be this hard.
Now recently its been inching forward when I stop a red light, with the clutch in and in first gear it will slowly creep foward until I seem to "pop" it out of first gear or rev the gas a little.
Is this just signs of the tranny needing to be replaced or needing to be rebuild? Or is there something else wrong with the clutch?
I hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.
