93 302 Swap Info

The bolt pattern/ where the pins are and where the 302 is gonna line up is completely different. I'm about 90% sure I'm gonna be drilling my own holes.

I linked them above but here
They are advanced adapter branded
Those look a lot like fox body mustang convertible mounts.

Yep
They re box them and sell them for big $$$
flipped left to right they work on 302 in 4wd application on ttb trucks
Your gonna have to drill holes / slots
I don’t think they drop the engine down far enough for my taste… but it’s been years since I looked into this

$14 ea at rockauto

So let’s see $150
Profit on each set just because

Knowledge is power

The $64k question is, do the steel plates work on the 4x4 model like the 2wd where you can use the V6 rubber mounts on the frame?

This is what works

L&L mounts used to work but no longer made

Good info here about convertible mounts

Sweet. It says 4wd too… I will try those
I have a 94 explorer 302 project coming up I was planning to fabricate something
But instead I’ll try these bad boys

Thanks!!

I like that it is slotted so the engine can be moved without drilling any additional holes.

I like the simplicity and price

Made good progress widening the tunnel tonight. Will mock up the motor next Saturday. I will take pics. I bashed the **** out of her with a 5 lb hammer. Your mom says hi.

I never knew about them until just recently
I ordered a set
I have 94 going solid axle and v8 next month

Glad to see the good feedback! Well done with the bfh

I'm following this small block in a Gen 1 Explorer body (mine is a 1991 4 dr 4x4) to see what y'all determine is the best way to do the swap.
So, the adjustable 3/8" plates with the 4.0 OHV mounts with the studs nibbed off work better than using the 87-93 Fox body 5.0
mounts that have been reversed?

The plates are the easiest.

I'm running into that bullshit right now. I ordered the fancy advanced adapter ones. I'm gonna have to drill new holes for those mounts. I think the adapter is the way to go. I'm gonna email the guy and get his. Then I'll try to send the advanced ones back to summit. But I've had them for months so I doubt they will help me out.

@slowestmtbr. If you get stuck with the Fox Body 5.0 convertible mounts, don't fret. The guys that own and convert 4 cylinder
Fox body Mustangs to 5.0s are wanting those mounts for their ford small block V-8 conversions. They are sturdier mounts than the
2-piece coupe/hatchback 5.0 mounts that were factory except for V-8 convertibles.

I'm very surprised no one has mentioned these motor mount plates. I've never personally used them but I sure plan to when I do my swap. I've heard nothing but good things about them.
1983-1997 Ford Ranger V8 (302) Mounts 2wd OR 4x4 (Include the required 4.0 mounts?: Yes I'll take the new 4.0 mounts with the plates for a 4x4)
I just ordered these. This guy is semi local to me so I'll get them relatively fast. Looks like summit is accepting my return as well. God willing. I will have this motor in next Saturday. I'll send pics. Then a few weeks after we will see if my hammering works out.

I’m hoping the 4.0
Mounts and plates allow us to drop the 5.0 down low, it really needs to be set low and as far back as possible leaving about 3/8”’from the upper plenum to the firewall
This way the large aod/4r bellhousing will clear and the fan will sit low enough in the radiator

Supposedly with the rickzrangerz plates, if you run the v8 exploder front dress you can fit the stock clutch fan with a first gen hd radiator.

Hmmm without tucking the radiator under the core support? My 88 has the engine far back and low
I have explorer serpentine and fan:clutch and there is no way any radiator would fit without tuck
The 4.0 duel core gen 1 radiator is barely adequate for cooling I have full shroud a/c and trans cooler all tucked in there even all
Aluminum radiator… it still needs a larger custom tank

Apparently the 89-92 front nose does give a little more room like 1.5” if I remember right but I prefer
The classic looks of the 83-88 grill so that was not an option for me
