I have a 95 XLT 4door, and i was wondering if it was possible to put rock sliders on it without welding to the frame. I dont know how to weld, nor would i really want to weld something to the frame. They wont be used too heavily (i dont do any serious bashing, i only have TT/AAL and 235/75 ATs.) I try to stay away from anything that will break my stuff. If this is possible is there anyone on here that can make me a set, or tell me where to buy a set? (as cheap as possible)...Thank you.

There are none you can just buy and to have some built can get pretty pricey. I was able to build my sliders for about 100 bucks and I bolted them to the frame. It's not really any harder to do it that way than welding them on. Though from the sounds of it I don't really think you're going to be needing sliders, they're more for challenging terrain where you can expect body damage.

i have heard people bolting them on there. i saw a thread yesterday... try using the "Search" button at the top of the screen

you dont need sliders in charlotte! all we got is clay-mud

well i have running boards (CRAP) and i want to get rid of them, i wanted to just get some sliders to have something in between the ground and the door... I want to start running Uhwarrie and ive heard that i would drag my frame and underside up the "bumps" the whole way, and i wanted a little protection.

you got any lift?

i wouldnt recommend anything less then 33's there...

Uwarrie is beautiful... yr talking about the national forest right?

ive got TT and AAL currently i have the little itty bitty 235/75/15 ATs on there now, but i hope to have 31s soon. I just keep hearing mixed stories saying that stock 4x4 cna make the easy trails, but some people (you and a few others) saying that i will need 33s and a locker.....im confused (yes the national forest)

yeah dude, Uwarrie is considered 'most difficult.' i would recommend atleast a lunch box locker with your current set up and those 31s. i would imagin that it would be OK with 31"s but you will need to be careful.

look into a powertrax locker or a lockrite before rock sliders. you wont need those unless you plan on crawling

i just dont understand, i mean the Forest Service says it can be run by stockers. I have seen people on this site say that its runnable stock, im talking about the easiest of the trails, not anything big. I just want to get the feel for the trails and learn the ropes before i do anything big to my ex.

haha dude you dont understand! once you try them easy trails your gonna be beggin to hit the big ones!

yeah around all the trail heads and most the camp sites are all easy... the rest cant get hairy. its fun though

you should be straight stock. if you were gonna go as far as rock sliders underneath then i would use that money on 31's and a $200-250 buck locker for the rear.

I have been through Uwharrie in my ex with tt/war on 265/75s as well as my fullsize Bronco on 33s I will tell you that my ex did just about as good as the Bronco. As long as you stay on the easy/moderate trails and know the limits of your truck you will be more than fine. Like GJarrett says you will be more than surprised as to what an stock ex can do.

Speaking of lockers for '95 X you can get them from Powertrax or Detroit Locker. :D
