I have a 1996 4.0 liter Explorer that I bought used in 2001. Radiators always leak after just 2-3 years, always where the plastic tanks are crimped on and always during very cold snaps of weather.

Radiator shop says many of the Ford radiators have that problem and there's really no way to fix it. The only true solution is an all-metal radiator that is welded, and nobody sells the copper ones anymore so the only other option is the racing aluminum ones.

Has anyone had this done, and what did you use? He was not aware of any drop-in all -aluminum radiator for an Explorer, and said they'd need to do the mounting brackets.

I am looking at the ~$300 radiators, not the $1000 ones... It doesn't need extra cooling capacity, just no place for leaks... ;)
