I have a 96 ford explorer with a 4.0 v6 that after driving it for awhile and you park it, when you go to start it, it will die out or not idle unless you have your foot on the gas..After awhile running this with your foot on the gas petal it will idle. Sometimes it will idle at 500 rpms but when it idles correctly it idles around 900 rpms. Any help would be appreciated since it is my wifes car and she is having fits over this.... Rex

Search out IAC. That may be your culprit.

Your IAC is sticking when it is warm. Mine failed the same way. Its a common problem.
