Hi al

I belive the problem I have is a hose that blew off the PCV valve, but I cannot find the hose anywhere.

I have a horrible hissing sound and the engine idles very rough. When I cover the opening with my hand it goes away just fine. The opening is on the driverside of engine under the intake manifold in the back. There is a hose on the back side of this valve(pcv looking think) that leads back around the engine to somewhere, but I am not sure what goes into the front of the fitting. Apparetely some kind of hose does as when i plug the port the engine runs fine. It seems to me it must have burst off or something. Maybe it just gets plugged, but I am unsure. Anyone have any clues

Thanks

The exact same thing happened to my 96 last year. That is a "tee" fitting under the manifold. The larger hose that goes to the back of the engine goes to the PCV valve. The open part of the tee had a cap on it that blew off. Find a snug fitting cap and your problem should be over.

Lot's of info here:

Maybe something there will help. I'm not clear what got disconnected. But, yes, there is one hose out of the PCV valve (at the back of the engine) which goes to a "T". A short and long hose comes out of the "T". One plugs into the back, and one goes around to the front. Pictures in the thread posted above shows all of this.

I looked at the seafoam thread heavly and the pics did not show what I had under my hood. I don't have any vac hoses by by brake booster, it is just baren. I am thinking it is just a cap of some sort that was on there as when I plug it...it runs fine like nothing happened.

I have searched pretty hard and no pics that I ahve found resembles what is under my hood.

thanks for both input though...anyone else have ideas?

OK, you said it was a '97 V8, and your profile says you have a '94 limited. Just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing. That thread shows the hoses that you have on the V8. I believe they are all the same - and I have a '97 as well, so it's the same setup as the photos I showed in that thread.

Oh! And there are some slight differences in intakes. I've seen one that does have a plug on an extra line that comes out of the intake. It's separate from the PCV valve hose. I might have a picture of it .....

Edit:

Here is a photo of the back of the intake, bottom side.

The front piece might be the plug you're talking about, and the PCV valve goes on the back of that fitting.

that's it!!!

looks like it just need a plug. Looks just like that pic.

Thanks so much for clearing that up for me!!!

Yeah, I just replaced this a few weeks ago. Forgot about that. Lucky I remember taking a picture. ;) Yeah, it's just a rubber cap on that end of the fitting.
