Recently bought a second 98 Mountaineer 5.0 (it's the same green as the other, except Gold Edition*) in better condition than the rolled and rebuilt 98.
So that one is slated to become a 5.0 upgrade donor for a 2002 Sport Trac and various new-ish parts and upgrades will get swapped to the "new" Mounty, which unlike the "old" one was actually built in 1997. (So tempting to dub them Young Mr. Mounty and Old Mr. Mounty, with the 97 built one dubbed Young.)
Can I just swap the AWD transfer case to the Sport Trac? Not a problem if the ST speed sensor is in the TC since the lower miles used one I put into the Mounty has that.
Are the rear axles the same? Having disc brakes on the back of the ST would be nice.
The ST that will get here this evening has very low miles on a rebuilt V6.
*Different color interior, "gold" wheel centers and emblems, aluminum wheels and a CD changer. Big whoopy deal, all else is the same.
