98 Explorer Mystery Warning Light

If anybody figures this out, let me know. My sis has a 98 eddie b and she had the same freaky light come on. I told her she might have gotten some bad gas or something because it was running bad when it came on.

Gas Tank leaking light LMAO! If only I knew a screen printer! I would have some serious fun with the warning cluster lights!

This funny gas pump with raindrops light just happened to me too. I immediately had my wife check the manual and found nothing. So I called our local Ford dealer and the master tech said in the 30 years he's been a Ford mechanic he's never seen or heard of this. Nobody's crazy here, this light does exist....

Did you happen to be parked on an incline when you started the vehicle and experienced the light?

Welcome to the forum!

We were not on and incline. I was driving about 60 mph when it came on. It kept going on and off again. It's never happened before.

The light is to indicate water in fuel for diesel vehicles. Since they use the same cluster for many different models I would venture to guess your cluster is on the way out

I had this light come on briefly yesterday. Dew indicator? I don't think so. But, I don't know why this would be coming on in our vehicles. After a little research, I found that this light is used on diesel engines to indicate that a resevoir which collects moisture from from the fuel is full and needs to be drained. Since they don't make diesel explorers, I don't know why this light is coming on. I was parked on an incline, at the time, and the light was on when I started the truck. As I pulled off the rocks onto the street, the light flickered and then went out. It hasn't come back on yet, so I'll just hope it stays off. For reference, my truck is a 98 4x4 sport. It has the original cluster that has never been messed with.

this is the only thing i've read that makes any sense (what the hell is a dew indicator warning you about anyway?). did they ever put diesel engines in Explorers? new one on me...

Moisture in the fuel system. Diesel only. Don't worry too much until your Ex sounds like a diesel then you know you have a problem.:salute:
