I was driving today on the highway and it COULD have been the sun reflecting the light, but I dont think it was - I have a 98 Explorer Sport - The light was in the bottom right of the cluster and was a Gas tank symbol with like raindrops next to it..just guessing I would think this would mean gas leak? I dont know? I looked in my manual and couldnt find it...I also googled and searched the board the best I could for its meaning with no results...anyone?

Edit: I obviously have never had the light appear before - explorer is running perfect with no issues..I did just recently have my oil changed though

If you look at your cluster close enough, you should be able to see the shape of the light even when it isn't illuminated. I've never heard of or seen this light before, but I'll look at mine next time I go outside to verify if you're crazy or not, lol.

^^ haha when I first saw it, it was a quick like 2 second thing, and I was like hmm, did I just see that? Then I saw it again for sure, looked in the book and found nothing

Also - The light isnt COMPLETELY in the bottom right, its all the way to the bottom, to the right of the speedometer

If you look here at the daytime/white gauge u can see a little rectangle spot to the right of the speedo (left of the volts) thats where it is

ahah dew indicator? Nahh..I did drain some tranny fluid recently because it was overfilled (and that was the first time on the highway since that) but? I didnt see any other differences as far as hot/cold

*scratches head*

I'm interested in seeing what info turns up here, lol.

I know for a fact that there isn't a light like that in the instrument cluster

^^ guy you have a 97 and I am seeing it with my eyes, dont tell me its not there - ill take a picture tomorrow

Ok-I was piddling in my truck and was reminded of this thread for some strange reason--
If you hold a flashlight on the gauge cluster at the correct angle-you can see a difference in the black texture where there are windows-such as the 4wdhi and 4wd lo indicators--

now--look by the fuel gauge-you will see "check fuel cap"

right below it-is the dew indicator light--kind of a pump and droplets looking symbol

over by the oil pressure gauge, is a "check susp"

There are more--I hope I never see them though--

what year explorer did you find that in because i just looked in my 97 X and i didn't find any of those.

Possibly it's a 98 because that's what his info says. Mine doesn't have that either code man. I have a 96. These guys are talking about a 98. What exactlly would a "dew indicator" be telling you to do? Obviously there is dew, but is that a bad thing, Distributor cap? I didn't think they had those......I thought it was all computerized.

^^ Yeah my bad I have a 98 Sport...youd think theyd put all the lights in the manual, why have mystery lights right? So yeah, no issues as of yet with it but im still curious to see what exactly it means, and how does a gas tank and water droplets mean dew? What does the gas tank symbolize then? Dew/water/condensation in the fuel line?

haha...anyone?..anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

I just want to know what exactly it means...i havent seen it since though

my 96 eddie bauer has a 'gas cap' light on the dash, my 97 XLT doesnt.. although the 97 does have a 'fuel reset' light, whatever that means. It has never come on, i can see it in the dash when light comes through the sunroof. strange.

Below and to the right of the speedo in the little square indicated in that linked picture is the THEFT light. If you were driving and saw it, it was an odd reflection.

Do you have a gauge overlay installed? If so, I'd bet that's the problem.

-Joe

when you get in an accident:roll: , the "FUEL RESET" light will come on indicating that the fuel shut off switch has been tripped to prevent gas from going into the engine or something like that. the reset switch is under the dash on the passenger side and it's red.

I had this light come on briefly yesterday. Dew indicator? I don't think so. But, I don't know why this would be coming on in our vehicles. After a little research, I found that this light is used on diesel engines to indicate that a resevoir which collects moisture from from the fuel is full and needs to be drained. Since they don't make diesel explorers, I don't know why this light is coming on. I was parked on an incline, at the time, and the light was on when I started the truck. As I pulled off the rocks onto the street, the light flickered and then went out. It hasn't come back on yet, so I'll just hope it stays off. For reference, my truck is a 98 4x4 sport. It has the original cluster that has never been messed with.
