On the last day of our holiday coming home just south of North Bay (small town in northern Ontario) around 9:PM saw a shadow about 40 feet in front of me come onto the road. it took a sec. to figure out what it was. It was Bullwinkle crossing the road, i cut the wheel to the right but i hit him on the rear quarter he slid up the hood and took out the right half of the windshield. Then he it got hit again from a small pick up in the left lane.but he got lucky no damage to his truck he just clip him with his bumper.the wife and kids where shaken up but thanks my lucky stars no one was hurt. it could of been worst if he came through the center of the windshield. After the police report i continue my 3 hour trip home.

call the ins. and took it to the body shop. the est. to repair the damage was $6000. the adjuster said the truck was only worth $4000 so they wrote it off and sending me a cheque for $5100 to look for a new one.which is not bad since i only paid $1500 for the explorer and i put $1000 in it to replace all timing chains and tensioner. now it the hassle to find another good one lol

thanks evey one .
we where doing about 95 km (or 60mph for those below the great white north) lol

60 and only that much damage? damn glad you're okay, EDIT: oops, so you get to keep your exploder, or did the insurance just give you a check?

Wow, hey atleast you can get him stuffed and have a trophy.. Glad no one was injured!

Moose steak is the chiznat!!! For that much PITA I would eat that little bugger!!!

one of my buddies hit a cow one time and it made alot of hamburger meat for a fire dept. cook out lol

I think you're going to need a new antenna.

Wow Look’s like the X took it well, how fast were you going?

Now you know why down in Aus most of us 4Wders have Bulbar’s and Spotlight’s fitted, as if you spend enough time driving in the Aussi bush at night you are going to hit something sooner or latter.

Especially in Station country, Like a big ranch I guess you could call it. 400,000 Acres is considered small, an uncle of mine used to have a 2,000,000 acre station.

I haven’t hit anything yet, but the Spotlights have saved my ass a few times.

Things people I know have hit in the last few years

1 Cow
4 Kangaroos
2 emus
1 goat

1 cow!!Lol damn, your not able to avoid those things!??

That'll buff right out...... LOL glad you and your loved ones are ok.

So i presume they wrote the moose off too.. :p

Good to hear you guys are ok :) Best of luck finding another vehicle!

when we hit it we were going about 95km down hwy 11 south of north bay.

ins. wrote the explorer off they said it had $6000 damage and the truck was worth in there book $4500 cause it had 275,000 + km on it . and they cut us a cheque for 5100.

we already found a replacement another 98 limited with the 5.0L awd. only problem with it is the egr tube is cracked and needed to be replace.
so the wife is happy now that she doesn't have to take the T.T.C. any more lol

In '99, I hit a cow in my '93 4dr X, it was in the country, cows were black angus, I saw the eyes, swerved, missed the first, swerved again and missed the second, swerved again and caught the third one in the chest and head, took out passenger front side all the way back to the door, and its head smashed the windshield. Speed limit was 60, I was doing about 55 due to the curves in the road. I was a mix of shaken and pissed off, lol. And a friend of mine has just died a couple weeks before then when he dead centered a full grown bull at around 80. I am glad I live in the city now!
And to top it all off, the cow was knocked down and out, but came to while I was looking around, and decided to kick my ass, I had to jump back in the truck before it would leave. I did get the truck fixed free, the farmer who owned them had let the fence go to crap.

It was up north at night, we had just come off a gravel road where 2 of the 3 4WD shredded a tyre each, one of them me, I hit an old railway spike at 90.

We had just hit a single lain bitumen road my mate was up front as we rounded a bend a cow moved out from behind some scrub onto the road my mate hit the anchors but collected it at 80Kp/h, I swear the rear wheel’s just about lifted off the ground on impact. LOL

Result> Bull bar F**ked, Spotlight’s F**ked, Grill F**ked.
Drivers door dented from where the cow’s head swung round and hit the door
Bonnet dented and would not close and had to be roped down for the 1400K drive back home.
