99 4.0 SOHC Block Heater Installation

Sorry to hear that, and I still haven't found a business that builds the hubs. Night,

The 2008 Explorer I purchased came from the lower 48 and didn't have a block heater. The local Ford STEALERship wanted $375 to install a block heater. They admitted it would be an aftermarket block heater "to help save me money" and total would be $375. I choked and walked out cussing. I purchased a Temro block heater for $19.95 and it took me less than 2 hours of my time to install last Saturday. It works fantastic with no problems, no leaks and easy.

No, mine isn't lifted but I just jacked it up, removed the front right tire and could access the freeze plug with no problem. It's amazing the big three wonder why they're not making money - it's because of things like this. I would have easily paid up to $180 to have one installed but $375 is robbery!

By the way, the part number for the 2000 to 2008 Explorer with 4.0L is 3100039.

One other thing I forgot to mention, you can drain the radiator, and even pull the lower radiator hose but it isn't enough enough to get all of the antifreeze out of the block. From previous experience, I have always had antifreeze pour out of the block as soon as I punch the plug so I placed by drain container under the plug so it caught 98% of it. Just be ready...
