- 1999 Ford Explorer EB
Hey all,
I just joined the site because I own a '99 Explorer that I plan on keeping for a while. I'm working on getting it up and running because it's been sitting for two years after the reverse gear stopped working. I found it and it looks great for having sat. Engine looks good, just put a new battery in it, and the only thing really pressing is that it won't start. I'm 99% sure it's a problem with the fuel pump or filter, because we took a pin to the fuel pressure bleed on top of the engine and nothing came out(gas would shoot out if it had a working pump), while ether starter fluid got the engine to turn over and almost start. I'd like a few opinions as to the issue--the starter and alternator are fine, the whole thing is A-OK as far as electronics go. Once I get the fuel issue fixed, I'll take the transmission out and give it to a repair shop to fix up, and hopefully should have a great long-term vehicle. The Explorer is a '99 Eddie Bauer Edition with the 4.0L/6cyl engine.
Thanks in advance for any responses to the questions, or even any hellos.
