This is shade tree ac diagnosis here, so take it for what it is worth.
I think you have enough freon, or at least close. Once the compressor kicks in that pressure should drop.
Oh, I forgot to ask if the compressor was actually running or not. Do you actually see the clutch engage and compressor turn? Have someone switch the ac on , then to floor, then back to see if you can witness the clutch energizing.
If the compressor was running then I think you need an expert.
If it wasn't, something is preventing it.
Edit, Boomin's suggestions should be done first.
The pressure switch right below the fitting you were trying to check pressure with has to be closed ( I think) to make the compressor clutch engage. Unplug it and see what happens, see it the compressor cycles and the pressure drops to the green area. if not, use a paperclip to jump across the plug end, see if the compressor cycles now. Could just be a bad pressure switch, or, could be something deeper.
